I remember first walking into a church and feeling an overwhelming sensation. A sensation I could never describe; a sensation that was coming from something or someone greater than that of this earth. A sensation that made me feel so peaceful and so content.
This sensation would always make me feel so thankful for life, so much so I would cry.
It was at this point I believe I found my faith in God.
Before we fell pregnant with Amelie I would pray to God every night thanking him for our happy, healthy, beautiful child that he was going to bless us with. We didn’t try for long, but I’m a very impatient person and so after the first month I fell in love with the well known quote "let go and let God" and we did exactly that.
The night we fell pregnant with Amelie (come on we all know the night it happens! ?) I posted a picture of this very quote on Instagram! Now make of this what you will, coincidence perhaps as my Husband likes to call it but my belief is that it was God working his magic. When Amelie arrived into our world, so beautiful, so healthy and oh my goodness so happy I could not of been more thankful to God for answering my prayer.
Watching Amelie be baptised on Sunday was one of the most special moments in our lives. I found myself trying so hard to keep it together, but cried like usual! Watching events filled with so much love and meaning just make me cry!
We had the most fantastic photographer capture Amelie’s day so beautifully. Sophie Collis is a self taught freelance photographer from Surrey. We were lucky enough to have found her through a friend, I fell in love with her work on Instagram and was over the moon to secure her for the day at a fabulous price!
Our Church is so special to us as Scott and I were married there. The church homes the most beautiful stain glass window. We were lucky enough to get the most gorgeous photo of us in front of it on our wedding day and we asked if Sophie could recreate something similar for us with Amelie. Well the result was stunning. For anyone looking for an extremely talented, professional photographer Sophie is your Gal! you can find Sophie here. Oh and did I mention we had all our photos edited and sent to us on the same day! Now that’s service!
After the ceremony my Dad hired out a cosy corner of our local pub. We love this pub as it’s really quaint but modern at the same time. We had around 50 guests and so it was the perfect space.
I wanted the decor to be simple and pretty and so I opted for pink flowers with gypsophila in mason jars. The mason jars were my savviest buy yet at two for £1 from Poundland!! The flowers were from our local market making the grand total for the table flowers £12 ?.
I loved using paper Pom-Poms at Amelie’s birthday party and so chose pink Pom-Poms with white lanterns on the entrance which were another steal at £2.99 for three from my local garden centre. I have always loved these string photo frames that kept popping up on Pinterest and so thought why not create Amelie’s using our wedding table plan frame! I was pleasantly surprised with how it turned out.
Now on to the cake! Every good event has a good cake, we LOVE cake. My Sister in law’s Mother is a very talented cake maker and so we were very lucky to have her create Amelie’s cake for us. You can find more of her delicious creations here at Edible Delights UK. My sister in law sent over a few ideas she had, all of which I loved- but this I fell head over heels in love with and so did the rest of our guests! A bubble machine and colouring books kept the kids entertained, food kept the adults entertained! We had the most wonderful afternoon filled with so much love for Amelie from all our family and friends.
Every day I’m beyond thankful to God for our beautiful life.
