Capturing Our Blessings

Ever since I was a little girl I believed in fairytales. I longed to experience unconditional love, to one day have a family to call my own and create the most magical life.

When Scott and I met as young naive teenagers back in 2008 I just knew he was the one! The one I wanted to spend the rest of my life loving and designing this magical life with.

I remember attending a birthday meal for Scotts Nan, I met all of his family there and thought to myself I wonder if these are going to be the people we will look back at our wedding photos and see them all there. Funny the thoughts that enter my mind, but sure enough they were!

This life, my Husband and our two beautiful Daughters are our biggest blessings!

I want to capture their everyday moments and treasure them for as long as I live. We’ve always wanted to create a family Christmas card but didn’t really want to design one until our family was complete.

2018 marked the year of the Ryders becoming a party of four! It has been the most wonderful year for us to date and so we decided that this would be the year we capture our blessings and design our first magical family Christmas card!

I’ve always been in love with the dreamy style of photography by Recca Searle Photography. She captures the kind of photos that take your breath away! We were kindly invited by the extremely talented Becca of Rebecca Searle Photography to experience one of her ”Mini shoots”. These are typically 30 minute slots with Becca at a stunning destination that include three beautifully edited shots within the package price.

I absolutely love this idea as it’s a great price to get some extra family shots in along side the beautiful family portrait sessions Becca offers too.

We excitedly arrived at our given time and got to watch a little bit of the session before us which was lovely and gave us a feel for our turn.

The first thing that struck me when meeting Becca was just how incredible she is at what she does! She knew exactly how to position us, which angles to shoot from as well as being one of the nicest, most professional people I’ve ever met.

Becca started off by taking some quick snaps of Scott and Amelie whilst I straightened my skirt and got Morgan ready!

I stood back and watched the two of them together and I felt like my heart was going to burst at any minute.

We then all got ready for our family shots. We begin by walking hand in hand, whilst Becca took some really lovely candid captures. I have to say I was in my absolute element. It literally felt like a dream come true, standing there all dressed up holding our daughters whilst looking lovingly at my Husband for our first family professional photos together, it was honestly wonderful.

Becca then went on to take some of the most adorable shots of our girls. I’d planed our outfits so meticulously for our shoot as these photos will be up on our walls forever, I wanted them to be perfect! Becca captured their cute, cheeky little faces beautifully!

Before we knew it is was our time, by ‘our’ I mean Mum and Dad, but for once we were Scott and Char, Husband and wife (and of course loving parents!) but my point is we got to have a beautiful moment together just the two of us, something that very rarely happens these days.

Whilst we were standing a this pretty spot Becca took some more photos of Amelie, these have to be my favourite photos of her, caught in the moment just having so much fun!

I then got to have some shots of the girls and I.

Being their mother is my life’s greatest gift, one that I’m thankful for everyday. But on the more challenging days I like to remember these wonderful words “If you ever feel like giving up, just remember there is a little girl watching who wants to be just like you . . . don’t disappoint her”. These picture is everything to me and reminds me so much of these words!

And then, just like that our time was up! It was absolutely unbelievable the amount of lens changes, positions and photos Becca managed to do! We were totally and utterly blown away by her. I have to say it was an experience that I know will always stay with us, it was so much bonding and laughing together or sometimes at each other!

Creating memories together and having those precious moments documented is everything to us. One day when we no longer grace this planet, our girls will have their memories of us to hold in their hearts and the beautiful pictures of us to hold in their hands. We want them to be magic, we want them to encapsulate every single bit of who we are and our lives together.

I’m sure that you can believe me when I tell you that I cried when we received our photos back, they are beyond anything that we could of imagined absolutely out of this world and Becca has edited them so exquisitely.

This year Becca gave us the most precious gift of all, the most stunning shots of our family that we will treasure for a lifetime!

If you’re looking for Christmas gift ideas this year then I’d simply have to recommend the gift of capturing this life! Why not treat your nearest and dearest to a family portrait session with Becca in the New Year. It’s a gift that says “I love you, I love your family and I too appreciate having you in my life”.
