Do you like me swoon over your hotel room’s decor every time you’re lucky enough to escape for a night? There’s just something so satisfying about symmetrical side tables topped off with sophisticated lampshades.
For me it’s my favourite style of decor, so effortlessly elegant and ultra easy to achieve.
Recently we were given an amazing opportunity to collaborate with, in my opinion, two of the most highly acclaimed interior companies on the Gram, @theluxurybedcompany and @decoratingcentreonline
Together they helped us to transform our master bedroom into a sanctuary of modern luxury that even The Savoy themselves would be proud of!
The first and foremost important step in injecting that sense of hotel glamour into your bedroom has to come from choosing the right bed.
You want your bed to be the focal point of the room, where everyone who enters the space will be drawn to first. It’s the show stopper, the Piece de resistance that completely sets the tone for the room.
The Luxury Bed company specialise in exactly just that, they sell the most luxurious beds I’ve ever had the pleasure of laying my eyes on!
From studded, suede headboards to quilted surrounds The Luxury Bed Company quite literally have what you need to add the ultimate touch of luxury into your room.
But not only do you need the best bed you can lay your hands on but I feel a well made mattress will not only make your bed look better but your back will thank you too. Our The Luxury Bed company mattress is the most amazing quality, just like the bed. We really do feel like we’re sleeping in a five star hotel!
In my opinion the second most important thing to give your room that overall feeling of elegance in the colour paint you choose.
I’d heard about The Decorating Centre Online on Instagram but had no idea just how amazing they would be.
Helen from the third generation family run business since 1986 so was unbelievably helpful, nothing was too much trouble. She helped me select the paint colours to test and had them sent out straight away.
I was so impressed at how fast the tester pots arrived, they came with a lovely little brush too which I thought was such a lovely touch.
The first thing I noticed when the paint first touch the wall was the quality. We decided to go for their famous “colour match” service where Helen and the team mix their paint to the exact colour from any brand but at a much better price, genius I know right!
Having not used this type of service before I had very naively assumed that the mixing of paint to get an exact natch would compromise it’s quality, but to my sheer delight this was not the case! In fact their paint was hand on heart the best we’ve ever put on our walls.
We tried over a dozen paints before and some almost seemed transparent! This paint is absolutely stunning.
It’s the perfect shade of creamy, soft white which makes our master bedroom look delicate and dreamy. It’s a real whimsical shade of white which makes the space feel so calm and screen.
We’re over the moon with the colour match paint, service and professionalism from Helen and The Decorating Centre Online that we are recommending them to absolutely everyone!
Another really important tip in creating hotel chic is to use the simple styling art of symmetry.
I’m sure you would have noticed on your travels the identical bedside tables that sit so purposely next to the bed. On top of them, you would have also seen the set of matching bedside lamps, again they’re to serve a purpose for your convenience but also there to add style.
Symmetrical items of furniture and accessories are so aesthetically pleasing, I absolutely love this subtle detailing in hotel rooms and adore it in our bedroom too.
Our bedroom is west facing so getting as much light as possible into the room was one of my biggest priorities. We wanted our bedroom to feel light and airy but cosy too. By placing identical mirrors above our side tables not only give a glamourous edge, but the light they refelect around the room from our windows make our master bedroom appear brighter and therefore bigger too.
Next up is your all important but sometimes overlooked accesories! We went with matching faux flowers and modern deco candles.
Be sure to keep your accessories minimal if you want to mimic the the hotel style. Think matching vases, cutesy clocks and pretty picture frames.
We love our home to be filled with photos to remind us of our happiest moments together, so I decided to carry this theme right through to our bedroom too. I chose three identical studded brushed gold photo frames with a mirror edging that complement the mirrors so beautifully.
I feel they are the perfect personal touch that makes the room our own.
My final tip in creating your own boudoir bedroom is to not underestimate the power of your bedding! A good bed set topped off with inviting soft furnishings can sometimes be all you need to transform your room.
We opted for a plain quilted duvet cover, three champagne silver effect scatter and two beaded geo patterned smaller cushions to finish off our bedroom design.
So there you have it a few simple yet extremely effective tips to give you that glamorous hotel bedroom that you will never want to check out of!
